Student: This is the perfect place for individuals with little or no experience to commence their exploration of tools, mediums, and techniques. You can begin with the classes offered at the student level, which can immediately translate into a successful business practice. Once you complete this level of study you must the acquire predetermined amount of field experience (apprenticeship hours) in order to move to the Apprentice level classes.

Apprentice: Apprentice level classes investigate why and how master decorative painter do what they do. You will begin to use greater learning tools in class at this stage empowering you with an understanding of your journey as a professional decorative painter. Hands on experience on real jobs is the key to a success at this level. You will study in the classroom and then apply your knowledge under the guidance of a Journeyman or Craftsman in the field. This leads to the accumulation of recorded apprenticeship hours that are a requisite for the next level.

Journeymen: At this level, you will attend your studies, work in the field, and become assistant to instructors. You will be providing leadership to individuals in the Student and Apprentice levels. The ability to reflect on your previous training and studies, and the ability to explain your perspectives to others, is an invaluable opportunity that fosters a deeper understanding of the decorative painting profession. These relationships are mutually beneficial and necessary for the development of students at all levels. To move to the next level, students should take all of the Journeyman classes, complete all required apprenticeship hours, and classroom assistant hours.

Craftsman: Well-educated and well-equipped, individuals must now focus on the refinement of their craft, training with instructors at the highest level of the decorative painting profession. Completion of your Craftsman studies grants you the capability to teach the Student and the Apprentice level classes, which further advances your comprehension and your practice. The completion of the Craftsman level, which requires the craftsman level classes, additional apprenticeship hours, and teaching hours either on or off the job, signifies the conclusion of the full curriculum: students are awarded the Principles of Applied Arts Certfication, and are granted the professional status of Craftsman.
