School of Applied Arts Policies
Refund Policy: Students not accepted to the School of Applied Arts are entitled to all monies paid. Students who cancel this contract by notifying the School of Applied Arts within (3) business days are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid. Students who withdraw after (3) business days, but before the commencement of classes are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid except the maximum cancellation charge of $150.00 or 25% of the contract price which ever is less. In the case of students withdrawing after the commencement of classes, the School of Applied Arts will retain a cancellation charge plus a percentage of tuition and fees, which is based on the percentage of contact hours, as described below. The refund is based on the last date of recorded attendance.
Student is entitled to upon withdrawal/termination-Refund
Within first 10% of program---90% less cancellation charge
After10% but within first 25% of program---75% less the cancellation charge
After 25% but within first 50% of program---50% less the cancellation charge
After 50% but within first 75% of Program---25% less the cancellation charge
After 75%(if paid in full, cancellation charge is not applicable)---
1. The student may cancel this contract at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after signing this contract.
2. All refunds will be made within 30 days from the date of termination. The official date of termination or withdrawal of a student will be determined in the following manner:
a. The date on which the School of Applied Arts receives notice of the students intention to discontinue the training program; or
b. The date on which the student violates a published school policy, which provides for termination.
c. Should a student fail to return from an excused leave of absence, the effective date of termination for a student on extended leave of absence or a leave of absence is the earlier of the date the school determines the student is not returning or the day following the expected return date.
3. The student will receive a full refund of tuitions and fees if the School of Applied Arts discontinues a course/program within a period of time a student could have reasonably completed it, except that is the School of Applied Arts ceases operation.
4. The policy for granting credit for previous training shall not impact the refund policy.
Postponement of starting date, whether at the request of the School of Applied Arts or the student, requires a written agreement signed by the student and the School of Applied Art's. The agreement must set forth:
a. Whether the postponement is for the convenience of the School of Applied Arts or the student, and;
b. A deadline for the new start date, beyond which start date will not be postponed. If the course is not commenced, or the student fails to attend the new start date set forth in the agreement, the student will be entitled to an appropriate refund of prepaid tuition and fees within 30 days of the deadline of the new start date set forth in the agreement, determined in accordance with the Schools of Applied Arts refund policy and all applicable laws and rules concerning the Private Occupational Education Act of 1981.
The School of Applied Arts does not discriminate based on race, sex, religious, political affiliation, financial status, or disability.
Enrollment requirements for prosepective students are as follows:
The School of Applied Arts will accept enrollment of all prosepctive students who are interested in learning decorative painting and plastering.
Enrollment Policy: Enrollment is limited to 8 students per course. Enrollment will be accepted before or on the 15th of each month prior to scheduled classes. Example: A student wants to enroll for October classes, the student must enroll before or on September 15th. (If the 15th of each month falls on a weekend the preceding business day will be considered the deadline). A 50% deposit is required to secure a place in the selected course. The remainder of the balance owed will be paid on or before the first day class.
Photography, Video Consent: Enrollment constitutes consent to being photographed or recorded by the School of Applied Arts or any of its afilliates to be used to any legimate uses deemed by the School of Applied Arts. As a student or employee of the school of applied arts you have relinquished all title and interest in finished photographs, films, video images, and negative re-productions and copies of the original matrial, and further grant the School of Applied Arts the right to give, sell, transfer and exhibit the negatives, original tapes, original prints copies and facsimiles therof to any individual, business firm, or publication or to any of their assignees and to circulate the same for any and all purposes and in any respectable manner, including publications and advertisements of all kinds of media. If you are found not wanting to be photographed, video taped, and filmed, please contact your school administration for further guidance.
Attendance Policy: Students are expected to arrive on time for class with proper materials. Due to the condensed nature of the course the School of Applied Arts strongly encourages the student not to miss any class/course. Students who fail to show up for classes and who do not make an attempt to re- schedule or take an school approved leave of absence will be dropped from the course and will be refunded as per the REFUND POLICY. Students who are unable to continue classes for medical reasons or severe personal problems will be required to take a leave of absence until they are able to rescheduled and return to the next available class. Proper documentation will be required to substantiate a student's withdrawal.
Conduct Policy: All students are expected to act in a mature and professional manner while demonstrating respect to other students and faculty members. Possession of weapons, illegal drugs, and alcohol of any kind are strictly prohibited on School of Applied Arts property. Any violation of this school policy will result in permanent dismissal from the School of Applied Arts.
Grading Policy: All grading is done on a pass/fail system. Grading criteria includes written and practical exams, class participation, instructor evaluations, hands-on technique, and professionalism. Passing Grade System The student must be able to organize and present information relative to the Principles of Applied Arts and decorative painting. An assessment evaluation of the above will be made through out the course by the appropriate instructor . Students are also evaluated on class subject -matter through written and hands on testing. Class participation is also included in the overall evaluation. Course grades will be given to the student on the last day of class. Please speak with your instructor or a member of student services for suggestions.
Progress Policy: Students will be given a certificate of completion at the successful completion of the course or program. If student is enrolled in program student will still receive certificate of completion at end of course and will be given student evaluations filled out and signed by instructors during or at the end of the course.
Transfer of Credits Policy: Credits from other institutions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We do not guarantee transferability of our credits to another institution without written agreement between that institution and ourselves.
Apprenticeship/Job Placement Policy: The School of Applied Arts does not assist in job placement nor make any guarantees; however, the School of Applied Arts will send letters of recommendation to prospective employees at the student's request. The School of Applied Arts does offer its students an apprenticeship program. This is not a job placement program but a program that allows students to gain vital experience working on the job with the Faux Design Center Inc. This is an unpaid program and students acquire hours to meet requirements as specified by the students program. Current Federal and State law prohibit any school from guaranteeing job placement as an inducement to enroll students.
Monday through Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm * All SAA courses run in 1, 2, 3,4, 5, and 6 day block times. When an unexpected closure occurs due to extraordinary conditions such as inclement weather, students will be notified as soon as possible by phone and/or radio, and/or TV who provide closure information as a public service. Classes are not held on the following holidays:
Thanksgiving Day & the Friday following
Christmas Eve-Christmas Day
Dismissal Policy:Any student may be dismissed for violations of rules and regulations of the School of Applied Arts, as set forth in all School of Applied Arts publications.
Student Complaint Policy: Student Complaints should be brought to the attention of the director of the School of Applied Arts in order to be resolved. If a student complaint cannot be resolved between the student and the school, a student may contact the Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools, 1380 Lawrence St., Suite 1200, Denver, CO 80204, (303) 894-2960. All student complaints to be received by the Division must be in writing. There is a two-year limitation of Division action on student complaints.
