228-F Conceptual Development (color and texture)
Next Class: Fall 2008

In this class you will learn how to effectively interview your clients for the principles of applied arts (color, texture, sheen, movement, and form). You will create a chart and interview sheet for your own use when interviewing clients that will help you be as accurate as possible. When your clients say "Well, your conceptual board is close to what I want but there is something not right and I'm not sure what it is," you will have a calculated process to figuring out what they are trying to communicate to you. This will make for a higher success rate in keeping your clients happy. No more guessing and no more jobs that you walk away from thinking that you almost captured the perfect finish for your client. In this class you will also learn how to keep perfect records for your conceptual boards and eliminate what is the biggest complaint in the design industry about our profession: inaccuracy in translation between the conceptual board and your finished product. You will conduct hands-on experiencsw to develop and refine the conceptual process.
